In short - No.
The JDM ecu will also be looking for knock sensor or something and will throw a code
Options with UKDM ecu are limited - at one time there was a chip for uk ecu but it was only ones with a certain end code.

Ok thanks. I did read on another thread on here that someone is making chips you solder onto the ecu itself to put rpm limit to 8k and drop vtec to 4.8k - 5k. I believe the thread said it needed to end in G00 not G01, just havent got to look at my ecu yet to determine if I can do it or not.

In the past we've (club) had A2's on the dyno making the same/more than some A's. They're closer than the figures suggest, real-world.

Ok that's good to know, would you say that an ecu chip is the way to go then? Also looking at putting accord type r cams in for a bit more power.

Spoon copy chips and ATR cams are a decent little upgrade yes, regardless of whether it's an A or an A2. But don't expect them to be earth shattering, it's much more 'incremental'.
