VTEC solenoid gasket

Post by JayJay » Tue Feb 14, 2012 11:42 am

I think my VTEC solenoid is leakings! As well as the cam cover seal  And maybe the cam end seal.

So I need to add a bit of sealant to the cam cover, but as for the VTEC solenoid I cannot seem to find anywhere in the UK online that sells them except Honda (at ~£27 each!).

Can anyone point me in the right direction to buy the VTEC solenoid and cam end seals?

Yeah I might have to take a trip in town to a motorfactors. Was just hoping to get it online, local motorfactors/Honda is so damn expensive

I'm going to try adding some sealant to cover gasket first and get the bay cleaned. If it's still leaking I'll be able to see where.

It might help your search to use the term spool valve seal, as the solenoid seal is the little one that belongs at the top of the spool valve.

Honestly there isn't much I would go to Honda for but some things are just worth it, VTEC solenoid gasket is one of those things, it's not just a rubber seal it's a very fine filter mesh too (well is on the 4G) and a new one will last OEM time, circa 15 years at least. Not cheap but worth it imo, same as the dizzy cap and rotor arm. New rocker gasket will be cheap too Jay but the cam end seal go with a sturdy Skunk2 one or similar, careful of cheap ones on ebay though, the 'O' rings may not be as sturdy and well made as some of the branded options. Look better than stock too and the stock ones on the 4G are just plastic, worked well but got my Skunk2 and all is good. Just my 2p ;)

Cheers Duo :)

That is true, probably a better investment going to Honda.

Indigo has convinced me to get a new cam end seal. The rocker seal is almost brand new so no need to change that, I just don't think I put enough sealant in the right spots when I first fitted it.
