That would affect the 'real' tightening torque.
Unlubricated threads will go 'tight to torque', before they're actually as tight as equivalent lubricated threads.

Finally got down to my lock up this morning.
Looks like I dodged a bullet and the bolt had just worked itself loose.
I'm so relieved, I'm going to try and get stuck in over the next few weeks and get a few other jobs done as well.

EDIT

What are you lads using on the threads? Should I use some Loctite when I put it all back together?

From the manual, no need for loctite.

Great news if that's all your problem was.

And yep, as Scott has posted up - do it as per the manual
If you make sure it's done up tight enough (to torque) there shouldn't be a problem.

I’ve always just used high strength lock tight and give it the ugga duggas with the air gun :lol: never had one come loose..
manual says to torque it to a rather high spec which is probably why there so hard to remove from factory…

That's pretty much what I'm planning to do alright. I'm just just waiting on a balance shaft oil seal to land and I'm gonna get stuck into it. I've a crank seal sat there already.

I loctite'd my crank pulley bolt just to be sure. IMO It's pretty hard to know if you have tightened it to 180lb/ft.

Bit of an update. I finally got a little bit of time to get down to my garage and get stuck in.
I did all the oil seals on timing side and few new o-rings around the engine.
I also threw a clutch master cylinder and a passenger side half shaft in too.
I'm gonna wait a couple of days for the sealant to cure before I fire in some fresh oil and hope it doesn't grenade itself when I turn the key for the first time.

Howdy folks, I'm hoping somebody can help me out here.
My SRS light just won't stay off no matter how many times I reset it.
Has anybody else experienced this?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
