The start is always the hardest part, well... apart from a timing belt change, which I hate doing.

This weeks progress.
I removed the rocker cover and upper timing cover
PCV valve and plugs are in need of replacement
Can’t believe how well preserved this car is for a 27 year old Honda in Australia.. just doesn’t happen over here everything just gets ruined by idiots and the weather
The timing cover still has its original stickers on

Little more progress has been made over past weeks..
Had to buy the crank pulley holding tool to get the crank pulley bolt undone, got it finally stripped with the cams out and valve spring compressor rigged up..
And that’s where it stopped for now.. I’ve got new valve stem seals here ready to go, then I’ll get new gaskets and seals where required and timing belt kit..

It’s actually a pretty cheap bit of kit of eBay if I remember rightly but it does work well for thiswurlycorner wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 1:59 pmOooh that valve spring compressor is a thing! Impressive.

JEBB4’s Prelude BB6 SiR
Got some time to continue this last night..
So if anyone is wondering how I am doing this, I don’t have a compressor at home currently to use the usual method of filling the cylinder with air to hold the valves up so I’m using rope pushed into the cylinder to stop the valves falling in…
Here’s the pesky little collets out.. I hate the little things, last time I did these on h22 I dropped a collet down the oil gallery and guess what happened last night at 9:30pm
Luckily both times I’ve managed to get a small magnet in there and found them but a warning to anyone thinking of doing this. It’s not for the in-experienced and you gotta take your time..
I have done a lot of these on BMW’s over the years in my day job so I’m well versed…
Out with the old, in with the new..
These are supertech seals off eBay, unsure if there actually as good as they look, inlet seals don’t seam as tight where they push onto the head but I’ve give em a slight tap so as long as they stay put and seal the valve should be ok..
