Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
I forgot to put a pic of the car up with the new suspension fitted. It has made a hell of a diference and I can now enjoy the car a lot more. I need to carry on adjusting the alignment and the suspension setup to get that perfect balance through.

What do you gain by having the front slightly higher?bennyboy wrote:They are great coil overs, I have the same.
I play around with the damping depending on if I'm doing a long journey or whatever, but I find running the fronts about 1/3rd higher than the back works really well and is a good starting point (On my old Koni setup too). HTH
I think they are great, people have commented on how planted the car looks around corners now and the ride is comfortable even though I have the dampening set quite hard.
Thanks for the reply.

Sorry, I've just realised how badly I worded that
When I said higher, I actually meant firmer. Some seem to have this idea that they should have the rears firmer than the front on a lude, IMHO all this will do is make the back more skittish.
The lude has a 52F/48R weight bias IIRC, so having a little firmer up front allows for the extra weight and helps a balanced feel through the corners.
It's a personal thing, sure, but I find that rule is a good starting point from which to fiddle to your liking!

Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
I came back the other night really happy with the car. It handled its own on some twisty mountain passes (although weight and understeer were issues).
On the way back two friends and I did some rolling starts. One has an ep3 and the other a clio cup 172. Im glad to say that the prelude was pushing the ep3!!
It kept up with into 4th and then started to pull away strongly so I am well chuffed.
Unfortunately with all the fun I didn't manage to play around with the suspension.

Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
The seats I purchased from @Dino got fitted last night. They needed slightly modifying where the seat belt buckle locator goes into the seat but other than that, a perfect fit.
I gave them a bit of a clean (although they weren't very dirty to begin with) and gave the suede a shave. What a difference they make to the interior and the extra support/comfort is noticeable.

Re: Toms 1999 VTi 4WS LHD
Quick update. I finally saw my friend that was keeping hold of Nick's steering wheel that he sold to me.
The difference is noticeable. The steering is now heavier and being a smaller wheel, it is now easier for me to heel and toe with my long legs. I love it.
