Fitted the new front lower arms. Just as well as there were splits in the bushes on the old arm, but I'm not surprised considering how rusty the arm was. At the same time we took the anti-roll bar off and painted it, there was only a tiny bit of surface rust on it, and fitted new honda bushings and bushing holders, as well as a set of Blueprint drop links.

Having just been through and overhauled the front suspension on my BB4, definitely agree on the choice of blueprint ARB droplinks - they're absolutely night and day better quality than any of the others out there.

I'm curious how you managed to get your bigger new arm to fit where the smaller old one was though  :-P

(perspective is a wonderful thing...)

Testing out the car yesterday and found two fairly significant problems, one easier to fix than the other. The car has the 5th gen ignition switch issue where you are driving along and the car instantly shuts off, really dangerous. Hopefully the ignition switch on my breaker is still good. The other issue is that I think the gearbox grinds into 3rd at high rpm :x But I'll be pulling the H22a8 and gearbox from my breaker in the next few weeks, so that M2P4 will be sent off for a helical LSD and maybe some new synchros.

Yup, it's like an anchor being dropped. Just as well I was on a straight bit of road. I wouldn't like it to happen going into a bend, especially a left-hander.

Try a Honda dealer for the recall?
They should still honour it, if the car has no record of being done?

I just took the one off by breaker. I haven't had the opportunity to fully try it out, it should work unless it has gone bad while stilling idle for 7 years. But the car starts at least.

The offending article, at least it only took 30 mins to swap:

I just wanted you to report back the surprise on the Honda service desk persons face when you ask for a recall to be done on a 20 year old car, they look it up and see that actually, they do have to do it

TBH I'm not going back to my local Honda dealer as they have pissed me off. They refused to order in a fuel tank sump plug for me as they could only order a bag of 10, and they didn't want to do that. Bought it off Lings instead.

It's one of the things that I have liked about owning a Tesla, they don't have dealers, so when you speak to them, it is Tesla you are speaking to.

But in caparison with my Tesla the Lude is like a scalpel, whereas my M3P is a sledgehammer, it's an electric muscle car.
