Prelude to a build

Post by TitzonToast » Sat Dec 23, 2017 12:45 pm

Well, I finally manged to squeeze my Lude into the garage, she's been off the road for a good while now and I'm planning on getting her back into fighting shape over the winter.
I bought the car a couple of years ago from it's first keeper in mint condition with a FSH, a stack of receipts, and all of the keys, fobs and code card.

I'm planning on doing a few upgrades here and there but I'm a bit restricted financially due to the fact that it's only really a summer car because of the rediculous cost of car tax over here in Ireland, if your car is manufactured before July 08 it's tax band is calculated on it's displacement rather than it's emissions. That means it's 1100 quid a year for a 2.2 litre just to park it on the road! And this is after I've already paid through the nose to put my Accord and a jeep for work on the road too.

So far I've got a service kit, an intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors from a Type R Accord, an AEM induction kit, a new ECU and OBD1 adapter harness.

I'm no mechanic but I like to get my hands dirty here and there, the guys I rent a space in the garage from are fairly handy though, they do a bit of road racing and have a couple of quick cars between them. The problem is, they're rarely around anymore so I'm pretty much there on my own.

I'm hoping some of you guys here can help me out along the way with some advice and tips, there are some amount of vacuum hoses and what not coming out of that new intake!
I'm gonna strip it down and give it a good clean as soon as I get some free time, that's at a bit of premium though with two little boys tearing about the place.

I'm chasing down a Jasma manifold, a front lip and a spoiler at the minute too. I'm just waiting to gather up a few bob again first.
I'm also planning on stripping the wheels back to bare metal and bringing them back to new.
With all that said, I really can't wait to get back behind the wheel again, hopefully with more power and looking much sweeter than it did before.

EDIT.
Sorry for the pictures not working, I'm not great with computers, if some kind soul can tell me how to fix them I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Well done for posting up a build thread.
Not sure how you get dropbox pics to show on forum threads.

Dunno if instagram works (I dont do any social media tbh)
I still use photobucket tbh, albeit it's not the most straight forward solution these days.
There is a thread about using imgur I think?

Cheers lads, I used to use photobucket alright but it seems to be running like a bag of spanners at the minute.
I'm heading over to the garage for a few hours now while the kids are gone to the cinema.
Hopefully I'll get them sorted out when I get back.

I still can't figure how to post pictures properly, they're clickable now at least. That's the best I can do!

Thanks very much, I took that pic after I'd used a foam canon and a clay bar. I've to wet sand and polish it yet, it should come up like a new penny after that.
