buying my dads 5th gen off him but needs work

Post by benthebratt » Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:11 am

Hi everyone. Currently I own a 1998 Honda civic mb2 . My dad is soon to be getting a new car therefore I'm going to have his 2.2 vti lude. Its a great car but needs some attention. This is where I need your help. Both windows don't work , Ive done all the basics, checked fuse, resistor and I'm stumped. When I take out the reisitor the sunroof stops working so I know it must be something else. Could anyone help me out ? Cheers will get pics up asap.

Welcome to LG buddy :Hello:

It's probably the window motors that have gone. Usually the grease dries up and the cog on the motor seizes.

Welcome to the club mate :)

Have you checked to see if there's voltage at the motor's connector when you flick the switch?

Welcome.

As Nafe says, check for ground and voltage at the connector to the motor first.
If neither has voltage, then the fault is likely to be in the drivers door (assuming it's the same as a 4th gen, then the feed to the passenger side is from the drivers side first). Check the wiring diagram in the service manual (in the wiki section of the forum)

 They're not just switched off, are they? :?
Does the 5th gen have a 'Main' switch for the windows, like a 4th gen does?

Please be this! I love it when things are that simple/stupid and it also makes for great comedy value

Doesn't that just cover the passenger side though?
