one of my pals is insisting that the wheel i have is made from carbon fibre - that cant be right tho - i thought they it would be metal - mind u ive checked it and its doesnt feel like metal :?

It'll be an alloy of some kind I'd think. Didn't look like CF to me ...

Tried to fit the new steering wheel today - but as soon as i put the new boss on the horn goes off and wont stop   there is a brass contact tab that triggers the horn as soon as the new boss touches it - do i have to remove this altogether?

Ha! In that case, it's the other way round from what I suggested. If you can live without the horn for a bit, tape up the connector I told you to sandwich so it connects to nothing and we can figure it out at the weekend?

The brass contact tab is needed btw! Don't remove that.

Try swapping the two connectors on the back off the horn button around ;-)

Surely that won't help, as it's a momentary switch?

Ahh, I just looked at the picture again ;-)

... Nick, in your pictures you show the horn button sat in that flange ring. If you pop the horn out of that, is there a metal contact on the side of the horn button that makes contact with the flange ring?

If so, then you don't need the trailing bare end wire connector as this flange ring connector in the side of the horn button is the connection. In which case you only need one of the tabs in the back of the button to connect the boss connection lead to. You'll just need to establish which one it is ;-)
