Back in the day my sister had the HR-V:

Taking Delivery...
Finally managed to take a train up North to pick up the HR-V, (Prelude is still in the garage).

@York Station and first chance to see the HR-V in the flesh.
It's pretty tidy for a 13yr old car. Fair share of pin dents, though stand back and you don't spot them. Engine bay is pretty cleanish, and only just approaching 30k on the clock. Alloys are bubbling nicely and will need a refurb at some point. Mind you the idea is for this to be a spot of cheap motoring, but I can see myself wanting to sort out some cosmetics.
I managed to find some OEM door step plates from a seller in Spain:

All the rust accumulated on the underside has been rubbed down and fresh under seal applied ready for the winter.
The 1.6 VTEC isn't bad, very smooth though needs you to work the gearbox to make the most of the 122BHP on offer. Pleased with how it performed, gear box is very slick with a very light clutch, steering is traditional Honda and very light.
Really comfortable ride on the 5hr journey back from Leeds, (traffic was jobby pants). For the most part it felt reasonably nimble and provided I can get used to a more laid back driving style I'm very pleased. For an old car it was remarkably quiet inside with no rattles, knocks or any out of place noise. The ride is occasionally fidgety, like it's just rearranging itself before finding its stride again, (kinda just checking it's dressed to the correct side). It feels more nimble around corners than the 2016 CR-V. The body roll isn't as bad as expected. Plenty of roundabouts on the A43 to test its hold and figure out best gears etc.
The drive wont be everyone's cup of tea for sure and @wurlycorner 's mention that the D series engine has the tolerances to handle a turbo crossed my mind. On balance there was enough power. Let me put it this way, re driving style - in the Lude I move to overtake and that's it the Lude wants me to press on and take no prisoners. In the HR-V I overtake and then politely tuck back in and await my next opportunity. Just kinda settle into a relaxed cruise, (which will be easier once the audio is sorted).
I do like the looks, very distinctive and retro, imo:

If you look closely at the rear bumper you'll see I bought a wee Japanese Flag to cover a bumper scuff

Have to say I'm really pleased. Took it out today and took those pictures, though I've yet to properly clean up the paintwork.

Re: HR-V 4WD 1.6 VTEC - 'High-rider Revolutionary Vehicle'
In case you didn't know the HR-V is based on the Honda Logo.
As in it uses the same platform, in the same way the current HR-V is based on the Jazz platform.
