Cheers dude. Believe it or not, they're legal for a 1971 car!! The Mustang plates are worse, they're the wrong font as well!!

Font is a UK legal font, height and width, the black and silver is legal as well. Back in '71 though, you could have a smaller sized number plate as long as there was a clear gap between the left and right hand edges of the first and last characters (1/2 inch if I remember correctly)

The regulations really came into effect after 1973 for number plates. I would love to own an MOT exempt car, that would just be awesome!!!

but aren't your arches illegal now? The rears don't look to cover enough tred and the fronts will slice knees off

Definitely need to do something proper with them anyway don't you?

Yea, they're not exactly legal now

I need to unbolt the rear arches and move them out a bit more. Will be easily enough done in theory! What I'm thinking of doing is get some baja rear arches for it. Make it into a cross between a baja and a volksrod rat.

Well I had a day off today, and despite the torrential rain, I decided to build some new rear arches. I won't bore y'all with the pics I took of the process, but here's the final product! Must admit, I'm pretty damn pleased with how it's come out.
