Hi Folks,
Picked up the latest car I'm taking on today you may have seen some pics I posted in another thread, but here she is out in the light of day
Even after years in storage it really shifts, can't wait to get it on the road needs to be taxed and tested, but first need to sort out the seized brakes and get it idling right when up to temp. And figure out why the ALB light is intermittently flashing (could be because of the seized brakes?). Not too much to tackle though, so I'm hoping I should be out in it very soon

Yeah, but just weighing up how extensively to have it repaired.mercutio wrote: trip to the welders then
I could get an 'MOT garage' style patch over the bits that need doing, it'll look jobby but it'll be cheap and get the car roadworthy again. But it could be a slippery slope of more and more jobby bodywork to keep it alive.
I could get the local body shop to do some fabrication and make a more aesthetically pleasing patch (as before) which seems to hold up ok and looks better, but it's still a bit of a cop out and could lead to the same problem as the solution above (more and more half arsed repairs) plus the expense is greater and it'll just need going over again at a later date when the car is being brought up to scratch.
I could buy new repair panels for the side in question and get them fitted and sprayed, the cost will be increased over patching but it will be a better looking and longer lived repair (hopefully). The rest of the body needs attention though and so it's kind of a case of it not feeling like it's worth taking a half measure if I'm spending more than a couple of hundred on bodywork.
Final option is get new sills and arches for both sides and get the body shop to fit them. Then have the whole car resprayed. Not really realistically financially now but is likely to be in 1-2 years time. It's also the belt and braces option, and would hopefully extend the life of the chassis significantly. It would mean keeping the car off of the road for the time being though which is kind of inconvenient.
I don't like making decisions
It looks like any other worn disc that's stood for a while, but it has been exposed to a mechanic who thinks that it's a chance to quote me £179.96 for replacing the rear discs and pads... Call me a cynicwurlycorner wrote: what does a "seriously weakened" disc actually look like?

Yep, I thought that was the answer (about the disc).
I have only ever once seen a disc that I would call "seriously weakened". That was on one of my dads Cxs when he'd been out of work for a few years and running the car into the ground. When he finally got a new job, I took it to be serviced and saw what a state it had got into... The massive front vented discs were literally paper thin
That's the only grounds for a disc being declared as "seriously weakened" in my book!

loved the english translation around the center cap.
Thanks for the info "Honda Hardy" They actually look really good on 3G preludes, however I prefer the OEM Look. I have some for sale, they need a refurb though.......
