I'm not saying that makes it ok/not annoying and not being unsympathetic, just saying it's always been common practice to put wheel weights on the outside rim on steelies, so unless told otherwise, it's perhaps not surprising that they did exactly that?

This is pretty much this. They said they always put weights on the outside of steelies.wurlycorner wrote:I'm not saying that makes it ok/not annoying and not being unsympathetic, just saying it's always been common practice to put wheel weights on the outside rim on steelies, so unless told otherwise, it's perhaps not surprising that they did exactly that?
But the guy has absolutely no common sense.
Could he not have worked out that these are no ordinary steels. They are wide and banded and painted nicely.
Thats whats annoyed me most. No common sense.
Iv had a look at the damage and its not too bad. I can repair them easily. Just annoying. Ill only need to respray the outside lips.
BUT they look GOOOD.
235/55/17 on all 4 and a nice stretch. Once the fronts have worn down ill put 225/55/17 on the fronts.
They will be fitted in 2 weeks time with the coilovers. Van is getting slammed.

Re: Rattys T5.1 Chipsaway workhorse
Uber spray day today. Tailgate time.
Heres the crappy hit and run damage on my van. The lower dent at the bottom is my fault but the others in the middle is a mystery. Damage was worse but i hammered most out.
Tailgates are £600+vat from VW and the waiting list is 11weeks. I put my names down as the waiting list is now 11 months. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So i bought a 2nd hand one of ebay. WOn the auction at £255 collected from Bristol.
Also i putting an OEM sportline spoiler on which is bolted on and this originally had a spoiler and the holes are pre drilled. Boom. But i had to sand off the glue thats bonds it also. Nightmare to remove.
Tailgate weights about 30kg also.

Re: Rattys T5.1 Chipsaway workhorse
Depends on the day and how big a panel im spraying. On a warm day and white cars i get bugs landing in the wet lacquer. Pain in the ass......bb1boy wrote:I'm super impressed that you get such good results when you always seem to paint outside!!
Also a bodyshop isnt the bee all and end of of perfection.
I resprayed my lude in a bodyshop and got at least 3-4 dust nibs per panel.
But mainly only I will notice them.

I always love the way Ratty makes it seem so quick and simple to paint outside, awesome finish every time though.

Re: Rattys T5.1 Chipsaway workhorse
So i have had my CMC coilovers fitted. Not entirly happy with how low they are. Apparetly CMC sent me to wrong coilovers and their others go slightly lower.
Banded steel fitted.
And you can see the after tailgate fitted and the sportline rear lights. Nice and fresh.
Just got to get some new rear tailgate and door graphics sorted now.
