Re: Golf Mk2
Ah I forgot about this! Been a manic evening
It failed needs a new tyre and a small spot of welding inside the o/s/r door sill. Otherwise it's tip top. Apparently Didn't feel right when I drove it earlier, but to be fair I've not driven it in over a year so maybe it was always a terrifying box of poor brake feel, vibration and trim rattles. It is a VW after all

Re: Golf Mk2
I missed out on a £600 mk3 Golf VR6 that was for sale in town at the weekend, that would have sorted my Golf out nicely
But hey-ho! I might have sounded despondent in my last post, but I didn't mean too - I'm actually pretty chuffed that the car failed on two such easily fixable things I was braced for much worse

Re: Golf Mk2
Re-test tomorrow
Got the car back from the body shop and they've done a good job again I also got a replacement tyre today so that's the failure points sorted.
I'm also giving the car a bit of TLC - new rear shocks are on order, and I got a new o/s/r window regulator today. I've fitted this now so I finally have a window that stays shut and doesn't gradually fall down I also scavenged a few bits from the boot release mechanism of a Golf at the scrappy, and I've fixed the boot - it opens from the outside for the first time in 2 years still on the list to obtain is a big bumper body kit, and GTi seats.
On a side note, my MOT sheet states that my car failed on the rust hole and the tyre only, however the separate emissions sheet also states that the car failed on CO (7.87% ).This wasn't mentioned when I picked up the car - have the test station missed this?! I've set up the idle CO screw as best as I can using an Accuspark but I'm still worried it's going to fail again

Re: Golf Mk2
Mot passed
Only problem is I've kind of fallen out of love with this car, it's not as nice to drive as an older Honda is

Re: Golf Mk2
Yeah there is that I'm going to replace as many worn out parts as I can, and sort out the bits of body work that need doing before I make any brash decisions though. I haven't driven an old VW for a bit so probably just need to get used to it again. Just picked up some tax and the sun is out so I'll take it for a post-hibernation run in a bit
