Put a deposit on this bad boy yesterday...
It's a Chevrolet LUV 2.5TD (Intercooler) with 67k miles on it.
I've wanted a pickup for a while now. Since I decided the lude was no longer going to be a daily I had considered importing a Mitsubishi Legnum VR4, but reading you can achieve single figure MPGs I rethought that idea, especially as sourcing a manual within my budget was proving to be difficult (Spent a couple of months looking).
So I then went back to pickup idea. Really I should have got one years ago... The amount of times I could have done with one for my house renovation!
Suprisingly not much choice out there for pick ups though... Nissan Navara's are the most popular and powerful, but you have to ensure they have full service history as the engine's tend to fail otherwise. Toyota Hilux are rated the best, but come at a hefty price. Ford Rangers aren't very comfortable and are the slowest, and the Mitsubishi L200 I just don't like the look of. Then there's the Izusu Rodeo, which I've always favoured with regards to the looks and they've always been competitive with the competition until recent years. And basically this Chevy is a rebranded Rodeo.
It's exactly the same on the outside apart from the badges and grill. The engine and gearbox are Izusu as well, the only difference is price. The equivalent Izusu's with the same mileage as my Chevy are an extra £1500+.
Just a couple of things to sort on it... The left hand side window switches (The toggle switch itself) have broken, but I've already lined up some replacements, and the left side rear lense has cracked, but even those are only £25 delivered new!
Picking it up next weekend. Can't wait!
