No idea if people here know of this 'trick, but I found this video and thought I'd give it a try on my 1995 Prelude's front LCA ball joints, as I was struggling with the 'proper' tools. I can confirm that this trick does work. The O/S one popped off first try, and the N/S (which I had failed miserably to get off with the correct tools) popped off after the fifth try -
