I'd say the high comp pistons would get you closer to your target mark than the headwork would, although both obviously go hand in hand. A7 (Type-S/ATR Pistons) can see you to around the 240bhp mark, so with good headwork you'll be able to see about 250 I reckon. Unfortunately I don't see you getting near 250 with standard 10.6:1 pistons.JEBB4 wrote:Cheers for the input guys,
@Merlin, WOW iv scrolled through your build before but never actually read through the parts list, some serious tack on that thing
You too have quite the collection @NafemanNathan,
Do you think it would be possible to make 250 without high cop pistons and rods? (Still serious head work etc obviously)
I definitely want to put the KS balance shaft removal kit on but ive recently had the block apart tho fit NPR piston rings and ACL race series big end shells and would like to leave them allone..

I did the easy thing and bought the engine whole and already finished (saving myself a heap of cash) and just added bits to complement the engine.JEBB4 wrote:@Merlin, WOW iv scrolled through your build before but never actually read through the parts list, some serious tack on that thing
Unfortunately these parts are mighty expensive and with labour on top will see you in for £5, 6, 7K.

I don't think it is possible to hit the 250 region with OEM cams. All of the builds I have seen with that kind of power use Skunk2 stage 2 Pro's or similar. With that they will need new springs and retainers and probably new valves too.
There are some other bits that give power gains such as valve jobs. The head I have has a multi angle valve job.
