circa 125k

It sure is

I'm wondering if it's getting the micrometers out to measure the lobe height to see if much has worn off. There is some slight wear on the rocker arms too.

If it's that much I may as well, thanks :)

Here's how my cams looked coming from a really dirty engine.

Get them cleaned up, re-inspect and then measure them first.
Like I say, yours are extremely dirty at the moment. I would guess at some point in its history, it has gone a long, long time between oil changes to get them that dirty. They might be worn, but the severe blackness of the rest of the cam exacerbates how the wear looks at the moment.

I think I know why my exhaust cam was so worn;

When lapping the valves I noticed some drag pushing the exhaust valves the last cm or so. I think the stem seals have given up and the oil has burnt onto the valve stem causing extra drag on the exhaust valves and wearing the cams. The inlet valves slid in with no drag at all.

Does that sound plausible?
