I was confused
Yeh, cams etc. All good from the start.
It's been an adventure this price of work: timing belt snapped, new belt, new valve stem oil seals, no compression, no start, then heavy carbon and black smoke.
All was good except for me accidentally hitting the alternator power lead on the block, blowing up the ignition module and map sensor.
Taken me ages to figure it all out.
Runs great now.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Confused, no compression
Excellent news - well pleased it was something like that and able to get to the bottom of it!stinkypaul wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 1:08 amSo, it took a while, but I eventually found out what was wrong, and thankfully it was excess fuel and not oil in the cylinders. the MAP sensor had gone, and the car was dumping fuel into the cylinders. I put an old one on that I had lying around and now it runs great again.
