rear brake upgrade

Post by Theetjuh » Sun Aug 12, 2012 11:47 am

Hi guys,

For a 5th gen lude there are nice OEM brake upgrades for the front, like ATR and NSX calipers with 300mm rotors.
But is there an upgrade for the rear?
It would be nice if there would be a 282mm upgrade that fits without too much modifications :)

If anyone knows anything, i would appreciate it greatly

Not really what you're after, but I think some of this information/speculation in this thread may be applicable when thinking about upgrading the rear brakes.

im not so sure the rear is a particularly upgradable area. or that its really needed.

the best you can really do is put some better pads on than oem but even then 80% of breaking is up front so the front is where the money is spent. the rear brakes are mainly to keep the rear of the car from wanting to overtake the front while slowing down, otherwise its as an assistance role to the fronts.

to make a rear upgrade a real user you would have to start playing with the bias and thats a bit dangerous i have been told.

imho.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

i dont think its really that important to beef up the rears other than some good pads and discs, a nice front brake setup will give you more than enough stoppage 8-)

Of course, but the topic covers increasing the size of the front brakes and upgrading other components alongside to be able to cope with bigger fronts/be useable... so I would have thought that increasing the size of the rear brakes would require a bit more thought. 260 to 282 is quite a jump, I would've thought the rears needed to be smaller anyway.

EDIT: What LLL said
