ELD problem

Post by Luderbrit » Fri Apr 05, 2024 4:39 pm

Hi all, I am having trouble with my idle on start up and electrical load effecting my tick over causing stalling , my car has just done a f20a4 to H22vtec swap, i have added a euro type R IM. and TB, the throttle body has no manual idle adjustment (I think it is electronically controlled from the ecu) my original harness to the ecu does not have ELD pins to the ecu, I know its a mix up but the engine now runs after 15 yrs being built,
My question is do I need to buy a used ELD activated fusebox , then wire it up to the ecu ect. I was running with a bb3 p11 ecu but now a p13, I've also got a spare p72 would any the p72 solve the problem
There were no codes on the mil, but when I jumped the service plug that is when I found the code 20 come up
Any help would be appreciated, even a spare fusebox :silent:

There's quite a few variables at play here tbh, so difficult to answer.
The euro r IM needs some modification/bit swapping to get to work on a prelude set up.
What TB are you running?
What IACV?
Do you have a FITV fitted?
Have you followed a guide to fitting it all, if so which?

Some info here for example.

Sorry if teaching to suck eggs and you know all that, just can't gather from your post.

idle issues can be tricky to track down - I wonder if a 5th gen 62mm tb which has an idle adjust screw would help any - ive used 5th gen tb on 4th gen with P13 - just a thought....good luck :)

There will be no FITV as the Accord IM does not have provision for it.

I use an Accord IM, coupled with a Hondata ECU, this uses the IACV to enable more air on cold starts, effectively offering an electronically controlled FITV setup of sorts.

If your rocking a stock ECU, and have no FITV, then there will be no system to offer cold startup fast idle. This is probably why it is stalling when on cold idle.

I think the code 20 is a red herring, the P13 is looking for a system that your car does not have (I think?) And so is throwing a silent code.

Thanks guys, its a tough one to sort, bring back the choke cable  it only takes a few minutes for the engine to warm up, so I will just have to live with it till I get a full tune up and maybe a remap, but thats another story. Vtecmec, Ive bought a JDM under bonnet fusebox with the ELD installed, I just need to wire it in. has any one got a fuse box ELD connector plug spare as my harness does not have one.
Cheers for helping out
