Headlight Restoration

Around once a year it seems, at least one of the headlights need a re- polish.

Many companies have a headlight restoration sealant available. I’ve never used one before, but are they worthwhile?
Do this increase the time between polishes or not worth buying.

Any comments appreciated and recommended brand if worth doing.

When I had my car in the body shop the guy clear coated mine after I moaned to him about what you said an 8 months later still nice and clear

I use Meguires PlasX for polishing up the headlights - usually last 6 months.
There are some individual/companies that will come out and do a proper job - sand them back - polish and then seal with a good quality laquer.

I do a fair few for customers when doing bumper scuffs etc.

Sand off the old yellow lacquer with 240/320 grit, refine with 800 to 1500.
Mask up the front of the car to lacquer headlights, degrease headlights.
2 coats of 2k lacquer.

Will last forever and a day.

I had a local guy do mine.
He has done them twice for Me

The last time He used a much improved lacquer from the US and it seems to be lasting for age's so far

I agree with RattyMcClelland, sand and varnish(lacquer) is the way to go. No more haze, yellowing and repeated polishing.
