If you go into partnership, be absolutely sure that both/all partners want the same thing out of the enterprise. You must have the discipline to regularly review where you are, where you're headed and if it's still what you want.
I've known good businesses fail simply because one owner wanted to grow and the other thought they'd gone far enough. This rapidly leads to discontentment if it's never discussed. But it's not all doom and gloom. I folded my own business because although I was good at the work, I had no enthusiasm for selling the service. I might have been better off finding a partner and sharing the load. There are plenty of good reasons why partnerships succeed.
Above all, find something you really want to do. Provided that you're running TO and not FROM, it could be just the thing.
Best of luck with it.

Have you looked or considered buying into a franchise?
I went to a franchise show at the NEC in brum in Summer 2010 as i coundnt get into the car design industry despite having a BA hons in vehicle design.
I wanted to do something with cars and aloways like spraying.
Checked out all the franchises and Chipsaway were a main sponsor and i got chatting and signed up and launched my business in March/April 2011.
Anyhow 3 years later and im absolutely loving being self employed and having the backup support of a franchise.
Also i find my self working more and more and getting busier and busier.
Like the old saying, "if you want something done fast, ask someone who is busy as they will find the time to help"
Also you wont see many if any benefits for the 1st 2 years. It takes a while starting and establishing a business.
