Re: My new Lude - UKDM VTI
Haven't had chance yet bud. Will be doing some investigating this weekend. From the sound of the engine I would say it's fooked though.NafemanNathan wrote:Oh no! Gutted for you man I know that feeling all too well.
Have you dumped the oil out yet to check it for shrapnel?
Are any of your other engines worthy of being transplanted?
The only other engine I've got is in KAOS, which is back on the road from this morning. Don't really want to rip it apart as it's still a good car that somebody may want, even if just for the shell. Quite high mileage now at 164K.
Yes bud, but as I used the bottom end from an unknown engine, there was always the chance something was going to go wrong It was an expensive risk to take unfortunately.mercutio wrote:wasnt this sorted at PAW?

Well it's an A5 head, but everything else is A8, and H22a bottom end. Is there much difference between the a5 and a8 head And could it be the cause of the failing oil pumps
I think it was some Mobil 5/30 oil that came with the car, this was used after the swap.NafemanNathan wrote:Mills, out of interest what oil were you running?

Re: My new Lude - UKDM VTI
Yeah it was @Lankysod07 that was selling that.wurlycorner wrote:Yep, kaos way too good to break...
Sorry to hear of the aggro with this one.
isn't there an a8 being broken ATM, where only the gearbox has been used, so the engine is still available?
Well I've jacked the car up this morning with the intention of dropping the oil to check for any metal, but didn't get that far after seeing this -
Seems to be the reason why the oil was so low after about 1000 miles.

Re: My new Lude - UKDM VTI
The engine was completely dry when it was taken out of the donor, apart from a leak at the cam seal.
