Anyone had any issues with brake pad clips?

Post by Jackson Bondy » Thu Feb 23, 2017 7:26 pm

Hello peeps,

Odd one today. Needed some new brake pad clips for the front brakes I'm putting on the 2.0 so ordered some from Biggred. Got them and they were the wrong size so a lot of hastling later (that's another story) I manage to get a refund and order them off Brakes International. They sent me the identical ones.
Link here: https://brakeparts.co.uk/#!/shop/HONDA/ ... es/BPF1258

The dipped bit where the pads sit isn't long enough to sit flush in the groove and they're not wide enough either side. I needed them for the weekend ideally as well :x
Has anyone else had any issues with break pad clips? I'm starting to wonder if my calipers aren't off a 282 4G and instead they're off of something else.

Cheers.

I had a nightmare sourcing ATR front caliper pad fitting kits from the UK. It seemed all the specifications were muddled up. I ended up buying 3 different lesser Accord kits that were supposed to be for the ATR before I had to go shopping in the States!

If you search the part number from that link you gave us in ebay though (BPF1258) it comes up with this lot.

Well I can tell you that Accord Type-R fitting kits are not the same as any old 5th gen Accord, so straight away there's a conflict there  But also none of those are Preludes

I certainly feel your pain mate, but make sure you get your money back for each one. I did and they never wanted the kits back either

Interesting, I've just picked up my pads and they definitely fit the calipers and not the pad clips which is a good sign as it means I'm not going mad and the calipers I have are 282's off a Lude!

I guess I'll have to keep digging and see if I can find the right ones! Ta!

7 years too late but I had the same problem, companies don't do thier homework , they only go off registration and basic info. I ended up with 3 different parts ( all wrong) my front brakes came off a 1993 2.2vtec 185bhp JDM import which was automatic the discs are 282mm the pad retainers are 24.1mm across the recess where the pads sit in, the retailers sent retainers that where 18.3mm across the recess.
having done a boat load of surfing and cross referencing i found that Biggred the caliper refurb company do the retainer p/n BRH1208
the kit consists of 4 retainers 2 anti rattle springs and grease all for £11.99 post free, I do believe Mintex has there own MBA1208 quite a coincidence, found on ebay, hope this all helps
