cheers ears 8-) I only did half the labour as I didn't have time to do it all, so my mate thom did the rest - but I had to point out and help fix his occasional mistakes lol

all good now though, Will is in vtec heaven....lucky bugger.

a few weeks ago i swapped Will's digital air con as the old one was faulty.

after much searching the internetz, i found a couple of mixed guides on how to remove it but all were for the manual version, not the digital. so, here's a basic rundown as once you know its very easy - but until that point its a complete gentleman's sausage.

remove your stereo and coin pocket (got in the way for me) then take out the two screws at the top front of the console facia, just above where the stereo fits in. the 3rd screw is located underneath the air con unit in the middle half way, accessible now you have removed the stereo.
Image

unplug the two (i think as far as i remember) cables underneath that are going into it which are around the same place.
once thats done, here are the two last mystical screws;

undo the console and gearstick surround - 3 screws either side of the central console, accessible in the passenger and driver footwells then two more either side i think down by the side of each seat (move them all the way back to access). loosen the console around off and nudge it back.

Image you can then see these buggers. two more screws underneath at the top of the facia by where the stereo slots in.

once these are undone the climate grill pulls off along with the digital air con - dont be afraid to give it a good (ooer!) tug... out it will come and then you can separate the two.

Awesome, I will be doing this on the donar car soon so now I can avoid some aggressive removal tactics (a big hammer)

haha Clarkson! :lol:

i recently fixed Will's power steering leak, caused by what we finally found to be a pinhole ...hole in the pipe so bumper off..

and the bugger was here, so took off the old pipe which had reeeeally seen better days and found some replacement hose and covered the hole. sorted.

I had a right bugger getting hose big enough to go over the pipe flares on those power steering hard lines. Everything I found was a mm or 2 too small and kept snagging inside on the end of the metal pipe and cutting into it. Was soo damned annoying :evil:

Unusual for it to have been the hose that's failed, rather than the oil cooler or hard lines, tbh.

the pinhole sized hole was in the hardline... but the old flex pipe by it was too worn and short to cover it, the replacement did nicely. it was some thick vac pipe i think i used
