My alternator went pop back end of last year. I was recommended Euro car parts and bought a reconditioned Lucas branded one. Had a mobile mechanic fit it on the driveway, but although working ok, battery light remained on.Tried to trace the problem but couldn't.Thinking there was an issue with it, I bought a second then took it to Russ at Hondr to replace. Same thing, and did not know what the problem was. Didn't appear to be a wiring issue and the plug fittted the UK alternator. Russ ended up cutting wire so light remains off.

Are you saying that an import car is not compatable with a UK alternator/ Prelude?

Yes. The internals are difference on the plug.
Give this a read.

Yes that's a snapped casting on the waterpump, bolt wasn't even touched so it's obviously been over tightened in the past. Surprisingly it never leaked

doh, looks nasty! Thanks for posting, looks like perhaps the crack started from the long stand off for the cover. Either that was overtightened, or maybe abused if the engine was moved (perhaps hit the inner wing area tweaking the housing?)

Good reminder to be careful in the area when I come to do the cambelt.

:o
What state was the tensioner in?
Looks like a very lucky escape....but you knew there was something not quite right before you did the belts...so you know what your doing when it comes to H22 engines.
So even when it is a low mileage fresh import you still need to redo the belts and pump for peace of mind.
How is the car running now you have had the work done?

18th January. Mot fail. Rear fog inoperative
19th January. Mot pass.

Not really much happening with this just now with everything going on.

Could possibly be up for sale. Far to clean an example to even consider breaking. Anyone know the worth of these nowadays?
