Can anyone recommend me any specific replacement Prelude catalytic converters?
I have a 2000 Prelude 2.2VTi (H22A8) and there's a hole at the back of the cat, so making a loud noise. The original part number for the cat is 18160-P5P-G10 which has been discontinued. Not the end of the world seeing as the last list price was £998.18 (don't know if that's including or excluding VAT).
There are many alternatives on eBay for about £100 - £200. I see a brand called BM Catalysts and I get the impression they're not bad, so I'm considering this one:

That one is "type approved" and costs £232.16. Due to the age of my car, I don't think I require a type approved cat, but I assume it would be beneficial at MOT time for emissions. The non-type approved version costs much less at £55.06.
I see Tegiwa selling many Magnaflow high flow sports cats but I'm worried they will make the car a lot noisier which is what I do not want.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Honda dealers would be really expensive or discontinued, as you say.
And I know you want to keep it close to OEM as possible so I think best is to get one from someone who’s breaking their car? Someone with a low mileage or in a good condition.

I used a cheap one a few years back, non type approved, passed emission fine.

BTW I went through the same ordeal in February 2021.
Bought a BM catalyst for my BB8 (BM BM90784), fitted it brand new, drove not even 100 miles to the MOT and failed emissions spectacularly.. CO levels were off-the-charts-bad
Eventually got a refund and I'll be using it to drive between MOTs. Gonna fit a working one for MOT of course.
EDIT: I passed emissions without problems before changing cat (the older one was rattling but catalytic-ing alright, I just wanted to get rid of the rattle )
