Radiator broken. Need a new one urgently
Morning fellas, and I must add that my mood has not changed much since yesterday's stress-fest. However, I thought I'd share some photos of the offending article just for a bit of background.
This one shows how the male part of the top fitting has sheared - you can see the broken part of it inside the hose. When he fished out the broken part in the hose, it more or less crumbled and came out in four or five small bits.

Ali and his guys tried to fit the hose onto the remaining part of the fitting but it was too short to give any purchase via the jubilee clip. He cut a bit of metal tube, wrapped tape around it for a good seal, fitted into the hole then drilled a hole for a screw to hold it securely, therefore giving a decent length for the hose to fit on to. Here's the ghetto fix.

The objective was just to get me home as I'm about five minutes from his garage. He advised me to crank up the heating and keep the blower on full on the drive back. Luckily, there was no traffic and I made it back okay, the gauge never went over the halfway mark. At least she's outside my house and away from the Ali's place. Keeping her there would have been a nightmare as he's chock-a-block at the moment.
Anyway, here's one more photo showing the colour which one of his guys commented on. He did say that the brown-ish colour is never a good sign. Like I said yesterday, I was made aware that the rad is plastic and to my untrained eye, it almost looks like Bakelite.

I have been scouring the web and found a company called Rimmer Brothers in Norfolk who stock Rover parts. I explained my dilemma to a very helpful guy called Theo and although he was honest enough to say he'd never had a call about fitting Rover parts to Hondas, he did say that his system did have a side note saying there was compatibility.
I know this is a big ask and it's the weekend so you have better things to do than wet-nurse me through my galactically stressful crisis, but he gave me the following part numbers for Rover 600 radiators:
PCC 0010 77 SLPP (manual)
PCC 0010 77 SLP (auto)
If anyone out there in Lude-land can help me verify if one or both are compatible, (or not), I'd be so very, very grateful. Thanks in advance, fellas.
