Rust under Spare Wheel

Lo All

After a huge amount of heavy rain I had about an inch or two of water under the spare wheel again

This is Soooooo annoying

I did notice water leaking through a section of metal work behind the plastic trim that sits where the boot locking latch is.
I just don't understand how water can be getting to the other side as it would need to be on the inside of the boot rubber

I get this amount of water whilst the car is parked.

yes very annoying - I have this on one side only of the boot on my 4th gen and I have tried everything to no avail

there is a leak guide on one of the usa forums - I will try to find it

I have rust under the boot rubber along the back of the boot as shown in My earlier pic.
I just don't understand how water can get there it's bonkers
