which tyre size to buy?

Post by bristol_bb4 » Tue Jan 31, 2012 2:02 pm

ok ive got a set of 17"s coming my way for my 4th, the thing is i really dont know what size tyres to go for! my car is lowered an unknown amount and i dont want to run into rubbing issues, equally i dont want them to look lost in the arches, i want it to sit just right 8-)

anyway what i have on there at the moment are - 205/55/15

which currently looks like this - (excuse the state of my car/wheels lol)

and yes i know the wheels are the wrong way round, the previous owner did this :nono:

the wheels coming are ET38, 8J and ET 32, 7J

now the advice im after is what width and profile do you think will look best?

any help massively appreciated as ive got no idea!! :)

Its a toss up between 215/40/17 and 215/45/17 IMO.

I have an agressive offset (I dont know the exact ET) and 40mm profile tyres on a 17" rim. I think im going to have rubbing issues if I try to go low.

i run 205/45 on my lude. when i bought these wheels from pipH22a they had 40 profile and they felt every bump in the road to the point i thought that i was going to damage the wheels.

ride quality isnt really an issue as the coilovers i have give quite a harsh ride anyway, i just dont want to have to roll the arches
