which tyre size to buy?

215/45/17.
et 38 and 8j are right on the limit. Might be best with 214/40 or 205/45 if you want to clear everything.

But for handling 215/45/17 or 225/45/17.

I have 225/45/17s on my pentas seem a good fit not sure if they're same offset as lude wheels.

I'm confused.. can you fit 205's onto wheels that previously had 215's or 225's and vice versa??? I've always bought 205's as they were what was on there before on previous cars. Or are some wheels made wider to accomodate wider tyres??? :?

You can fit smaller tyre width's onto wider rims, the side wall height depends on the amount of "Stretch" you have

You can do what you want. But dont think you can fit a 255 on a 7" wheel. There are limits. The most important thing it to have a side wall. The car is tuned to a certain side wall size to give a good camber curve etc. They to stay close to it.
But yes use any size really.
